North star
Help ordinary people seek truth together, without surrendering truth or humanity.
Modern World Library helps people think clearly in a noisy world. Information is abundant; trust is scarce. The goal isn't to hand you a team to join. It's to hand you better tools: test a claim, understand the other side, follow the evidence, and change your mind when the facts say so.
A way to stay thoughtful when everything around you rewards a reaction.

Trust the method, not a jersey. A jersey is who you cheer for. A method is how you decide what is true.
The path

The frame, and the wall it hits
The Lens Problem names the frame. What follows, past the shelf, is the author's own next step -- optional, not required reading.

The Lens Problem
Names the hidden frame you're already reading through, before anyone opens a verse.
Past the shelf, not Book 13 | $16.99
The Closed Manifold
The room that frame can't get you out of — where the author personally landed. Read after, if you want to.

Five-minute win
Before you share a claim tonight:
- What exactly is being claimed?
- What evidence would prove it?
- What evidence would weaken it?
- What is the strongest opposing case (said fairly)?
- What action follows if you're right?
That's the Modern World Test. You just practiced the method.
Method Constitution
The Modern World Method
Ten principles. The standard we apply to opponents applies to ourselves.
- Separate claims before you evaluate them. Don't argue a whole document release as if it were a single claim. Take it one claim at a time.
- Primary sources outrank commentary. Start with the original document, filing, or recording. Not the headline on screen.
- Extraordinary claims need proportionate evidence. Match confidence to what the page can carry.
Show all ten principles
- Absence of evidence is not automatically evidence of absence. Say not shown when the link between the two can't be produced.
- Similar incentives do not prove coordination. Convergence is common. Conspiracy needs documents.
- A good argument survives its strongest opponent. Before you argue back, state the other side's best case fairly.
- The standard you use on opponents applies to you. Same claim classes. Same falsifiers. Own-side included.
- Evidence can change conclusions. If a document kills a conclusion you liked, change your answer.
- Confidence should match the evidence. Process, packaging, and outcome are three different things. Don't upgrade a partial into a trophy.
- People are not arguments. Go after the claim, never the person. You can say the hard thing and keep the friendship.
Primary first. Strongest opposing view second. Update always. (What we call primary sources, steelmanning, and updating.)
Reader contract
Before you go deeper
- I will not assume bad motives as a first move.
- I will separate claims before I grade them.
- I will distinguish uncertainty from deception.
- I will allow evidence to challenge me.
- I will criticize ideas without dehumanizing people.
What this is not
Boundaries
- Not a political campaign
- Not a conspiracy archive
- Not a replacement for expertise
- Not a church authority or news outlet
- Not a debate weapon. A compass.

Why this exists
A short motive
People argue past each other. Clips outrun files. Jerseys outrank methods. Modern World Library exists to rebuild the ability of ordinary people to seek truth together: with documents, honest disagreement, and the courage to update. Independent editorial work by B.J. Calder. Assembled is not the same as store-cleared. Eleven volumes have been cleared by the author and are on sale now, and Book 11 is free in full. Every volume has now cleared.
